How often do you pray for your kids?

“Well…I pray with my child every night before he goes to bed, and before I go to bed. We also pray as a family at most meal times.”

However, we should be interceding for our children; going in and really praying FOR our children in the throne room of the Father Himself.

Truth time: Going to Him and interceding on behalf of my children should take higher priority in THIS mama’s heart.

I have to remember and remind myself…

God wants to give us things… but He does ask for one thing…

What is it that Jesus says that God requires of us?

Check out Matthew Chapter 7.

God loves your children. He wants good things for them! Jesus, sitting on a hillside in Jerusalem, described prayer as simply asking our Father. He compares our relationship to God to that of a child asking his earthly father for bread. “Which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will you give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things TO THOSE WHO ASK HIM” (Matthew 7:10-11). WOW! Those last five words are a doozy! To those who ask Him. Will you ask God for a miracle in your child?

When Jesus gave his example for prayer, it started with praise “Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done…” so I started each prayer with a praise related to an aspect of God that is relatable to each prayer item.

I created this list so that you could pray one for each day of the week. Consider printing this list out and putting it by your bedside table. (I provide a free printable later in this post!)

Biblical Prayers For Your Child:
That my child would be committed to Christ

God, may Your will be done. Please help teach my child that the best life is one that is totally committed to Christ. I pray that they would seek You with their whole heart. I pray that their name would be added to the Book of Life. Please help me teach my kids that they should ‘present their bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to You’ and that they would not be ‘conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of their mind, that by testing they may discern what Your will is, what is good and acceptable and perfect.’ -Romans 12:1-2

Biblical Prayers For Your Child:
That my child would be respectful

God, You are on Your throne. You are good. Almighty God, I pray that my child would “be subject to the governing authorities. 1. Thanks for the encouragement to pray… I pray with my kids every night but need to pray FOR them more often than I do for sure.

  2. Love, love, LOVE this. Thank you for sharing. Using Bible verses in your prayers is also a good way to start memorizing them. God bless!

  3. I love how you intertwine Scripture into your prayers. I love praying through Scripture as it keeps me focused on praying. I also love prayer #4 in this list. It’s a great reminder that Spiritual warfare is present in our kid’s lives even from an early age.
